Discovering solar potential for new techno-industrial development.
The Leganés Tecnológico science, technology and business park is located 6 km from the center of Madrid and covers an area of 260 hectares. Promoted by the Community of Madrid, the Leganés City Council and the Carlos III University, the park brings together companies from different sectors characterized by their high technological performance. The Directorate General of Industry of the Community of Madrid promoted this study of solar potential as part of its strategies for sustainable development.

A contribution to the development of renewable energies
The demonstration project developed for the General Directirate of Industry of the Community of Madrid covered an area of 57 ha of the 260 ha that make up the Technology Park, focusing on the area of greatest interest and development at that time. The area studied includes a total of 26 parcels with a built-up area of 62,622 m². Of this, a total of 42,591 m² was considered as potential catchment area. It was estimated that a power of 6,815 kWp could be installed on these roofs, which would generate 9,781 MWh annually.
It should be noted that the implementation of solar energy is currently the majority in the Technology Park.
